Project updates

Hello people "Husband" here to catch you up on what has been going on with the Robinson's. First off let me say that Abby would be writing this blog if she didn't have such a baby brain. Now before you start saying "quit picking on the pregnant chick" let me explain.

My wife has seemed to lost her marbles! Abby is usually on task pretty well but lately she has been forgeting things a little to much and just seems out of it! Last night she came with me to Famous Footwear so I could get some new shoes for school and I was talking with her in the car and asking questions and she just had this look on her face the entire time like she didn't know what was going on. I bet if I would have asked her where she thought she was in the world she probably would have said 'the pool!' or some other random thing. I know I know she's pregnant and her body isn't running normally... But I want my wife back!!

Anyway time for pictures.

I recently finished tiling above the shower in the downstairs bathroom. I had to do some plumbing and electrical but mainly tile. The ceiling tile took forever! If you ever plan on tiling a shower don't plan on finishing in one day.

Just a look at the sheetrock when you come into the bathroom. There will be a vanity in here shortly. I just stained the last part of the vanity tonight and should be ready to go in by tomorrow evening. Got a new faucet to put in and the bathroom will be fully usable.

I don't plan on taping the sheetrock anytime soon. I plan on doing all of the work in the basement by myself but taping and texture the walls and ceiling is where I draw the line. So when we get the rest of the basement rocked then we will have a crew come in and finsih the rest.

Just a look at the floor tile. For being the first time I have tiled alone it turned out pretty well.

In other news I finally put the crib together after sitting for a week. I was waiting to finishing the bathroom so I could then take the office crap out and move it downstairs. So the crib is up and we will be working on this project on and off as the baby comes.

Abby origianally wanted to do cloth diapers but after some dreams and thoughts she decided that we should just do regular diapers since we will both be working a lot and won't really be able to keep up on the cloth. So we found this diaper genie on craigslist for $15!! It is basically brand new! The lady said she hardly ever used it.

Friday was Abby's 27th birthday and on Wednesday for part of her present I took her to a Sporting game. We are not much of a soccer fan but it turned out to be a really cool time. We bought tickes for the south end stands and you don't have assigned seating, you can just sit anywhere so it's a pretty relaxed enviornment.

Also I have finally picked up BALL GOLF! I am a pretty big disc golfer and have only played real golf a handful of times but have really wanted to get into it. When Abby and I went back to GB for Jordan's bday party he and I went to the driving range and I got hooked! Then the week after we went to Wichita for Rubles baby shower and I ended up playing 18 with the guys. There happens to be a driving range 5 minutes from my house and the guy that owns it is a golf pro and one of the nicest people I have met. I went there with some clubs Josh gave me and next thing you know the owner is out scouting for some 1" longer clubs for me. He called a week later and I now have a 3-9 and a PW and SW. Troy gave me a bag so all I need is a putter and a few drivers and I'm set! I always thought golf was super expensive which it is compared to free disc golf but it is not as bad as I thought it would be. A teacher friend of mine said he plays at least twice a week this summer and never pays over $30 when he goes. $30 is $30 but still I always assumed it would be $50 every time you went. So I am excited for the next time Dan, Jordan, and Jared come up so we can go crush some local courses.

Last thing then I am going back to working on school prep. Ever since we got the sprinkler system fixed (which was a post or 2 ago) we have needed to get the heads replaced. I think from just sitting for so long that they just don't work as good as they used to. The watering is never as even as it should be and I have worked with the old heads for quite some time and just can't get it right. So I have been waiting for a deal and one hit big today! So I am going to start replacing the heads soon and I got all of these below for $63. In case you don't know sprinkler lingo that is a ridiculous deal. The Orschelens close to our house cleranced the crap out of these so I decided to jump on it while I had the chance. The ones in the boxes only cost $5 and there the really nice ones!!! The biggest savings are the hose adapters. I picked those up for 10 cents each, should have paid $17 for them and only ended up paying a little over $2! All in all we saved $100 by getting these on clearance. Not a bad way to redo a sprinkler system if you ask me. I'm pretty pumped up about this one.

That is it for now. I'm going back to working on school stuff and you should be hearing from Abby soon. She has been working on a new cover for the baby rocker and she will be anxious to show you.

Hormones & Murderers...

Last night was a rough night for this preggo. I was getting ready for bed while Miss B was taking her nightly pee break. She was barking a LOT during this little pee break so I went to see what her beef was. Once outside I could hear this awful screeching following her barking and jumping around like a hooligan. So I ran back in to grab a flash light thinking she had ANOTHER bird. (Yes she swatted a bird from the air and then proceeded to stomp on it like it was her toy. SO NOT COOL!) When I got her away from it I quickly realized it wasn't a bird but rather a BABY BUNNY! There you have the murderer now lets talk about those hormones. I immediately burst into tears, not just water in my eye tears, but gigantic sobbing blubbering mess tears with a side of hyperventilating. I corralled B back in the house and about this time the Husband came out of the shower to see his wife gasping for air as she was yelling at Miss B telling her she had not raised a murderer. Oh to see the look on his face - priceless. Eventually I got it out that she had a bunny and probably murdered it and that he HAD to do something! So being the amazing husband he is, he went out and took care of dead baby bunny. Then he came back in to find me still crying. He even prayed for baby bunny and it's mom - how sweet is he?! Then he asked me - quite shyly - why I was crying so hard? Well... I don't really know. I'm going to take the preggo card on this one! Ever since I got pregnant an injured animal just makes me burst into tears. You all know the abused animal commercials with Sarah McGlaughlin signing in the background, yeah I have to run out of the room before the flood gates open. Just hearing her song on the radio triggers the water works! The only reasonable explanation I can come up with is that seeing an injured animal makes me think of our baby and how they are both so innocent - but even that doesn't really make sense. I can watch a commercial about feeding the hungry children throughout the world without tears. I don't enjoy it by any means, but my face doesn't immediately take a shower! So yes, I'm pulling the preggo card on this one and I'm still mad and not talking to B. Poor thing doesn't even know what she did! I hope you are all having a better week than this crazy preggo lady, I'm ready for the weekend!

Odds and Ends + some BIG news!

I just don't know where the time goes!!  I feel like I JUST posted my last blog but then I checked and it was nearly a month ago!  So last time I promised pictures of The Hungry Caterpillar so let's begin with that.  I made cupcakes and cake pops.

Big Sister didn't really appreciate having her picture taken!

She finally warmed up to me with some help from Kelly...
The 3 preggo's - Katie was due last Saturday but Benjamin is being stubborn (typical boy :), Sheena is due at the end of June and I'm due in November.
The shower was a lot of fun and my first shot at cake pops turned out great!

I came home at lunch last week to find this in Miss B's water bowl!!  She went to get a drink and slowly backed away - thinking she was out I went to fill her up and to my surprise this nasty thing was swimming around!  I promptly sent him down the garbage disposal so there is no more spider!

Remember the laundry room do over?  Well we FINALLY got around to adding some finishing touches!
Some bars to hang our clothes as we fold.

With some team work we got the hooks up for the broom and mop in the back...

He may or may not have gotten stuck during this project

But it sure does look good!

This is my favorite new item that we purchased.  A giant glass jar for our detergent rather than the ugly box it normally comes it!
Thank you dad for building this and thank you husband for finishing it off!

Well it's July 4th and the Husband and I are tiling our basement bathroom tonight instead of watching fire works!  I guess we just weren't in the mood to sit outside and get eaten by mosquito's tonight!  I hope you are all having a GREAT 4th!

...

Oh you didn't forget about the BIG news?!
It just so happens that as of a week and half ago I am officially half way through this pregnancy!

Do you know what happens half way through?
Sometimes you get to find out if you are growing a baby boy or a baby girl...  Any guesses?
.
.
.
IT'S A BOY!!!!
In November we will be welcoming a very LONG baby boy into this world!  At our visit they were able to measure his arms and legs and they were  in the 97% for this stage of pregnancy!  The Husband was 22 inches and a little over 8lbs and I was around 18-19 inches and 8.6 lbs.  So because the Husband is 6'6 now, they won't be changing the due date, but we are to expect a long at least 8 lb baby boy!  The Husband would really like to fast forward 18 years to see how tall this little guy is going to be, unfortunately that's not an option!

This morning we spent our time at Target and Babies'R'Us a register-a-thon! Then this afternoon I compared the two to make sure we didn't register for the same thing at each place so we are OFFICIALLY registered for Baby Boy Robinson!  It's hard work registering for a baby - there are ENDLESS possibilities!  The Husband's sister Randine went with us for a second opinion and she was a lot of help!  I for one am glad to have that over with, but it was fun!
Okay now go have a happy 4th!!

Movin' and Groovin'

This weekend the Husband was pretty busy taking a class all day Saturday and working the sound system at a recital Friday & Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon.  He claims it was worse than torture but I did remind him that he wants a girl and if that does happen there will probably be many more recitals in our future!  He said if we have a girl she can just learn to dance in the living room - I told him we would figure that all out later ;).

As he was busy makin' dollar bills, I was making a cake for a baby shower we helped host tonight!  Pictures to come soon!  Saturday while I was taking a break from being a baker, I was sitting on the couch with me feet up and kept feeling a weird muscle spasm in my gut.  After about a minute of this it dawned on me that this was not MY 'muscle spasm' but it was the first official baby kicks!  Of course after feeling it and realizing what it was I know realized I've been feeling this for week or two, but now it is much more consistent!!  Baby Robinson continued to karate chop his or her way across my abdomen and I could even feel a couple with my hand!!  I couldn't wait for the Husband to get home hoping he could maybe feel it too.  When he got home nothing was happening, so I went about my business but at bedtime he/she started up again - unfortunately the Husband never was able to feel it, but I'm sure he will soon!

Time for bed here, hope you all had a good weekend too!  Since I don't really like posting without at least one picture, I'll leave you with a picture of the bump :)

Slice of Heaven

Last Sunday I got myself a little slice of heaven which Miss B promptly claimed as her own...

That's right a kiddie pool!  No I didn't buy this for the kid-to-be, I bought it for MYSELF!!

You see I was quite spoiled growing up.  We lived literally ACROSS THE STREET - AKA WALKING DISTANCE - LESS THAN 200 Ft from the pool!  I got to swim EVERY DAY and it was GLORIOUS!  Here in Lawrence they don't really have such a thing as neighborhood pools.  (Side Note:  If they do PLEASE PLEASE tell me!!!!)  Growing up I also was a life guard at the same pool and it was so relaxed and fun - isn't it like that everywhere?!  NO!  Absolutely NOT!!  I worked one miserable summer here at the City Pool and let me tell you, those kids are NOT fun!  I mean they actually almost drown, you have to SAVE PEOPLE!!  In all 4 summers I worked at the neighborhood pool I NEVER once had to save anyone and I could probably count on one hand the times that other guards had to save someone (my brother is one of those, but that's a story for another day :).  Sorry got off on a bit of a tangent there.  My point is I don't really enjoy going to the pool here, so I've made my own little paradise!  This guy is about 6 ft across and a couple of feet deep.  Just deep enough that I can float on a raft while laying out!  The Husband thinks I'm ridiculous, but if I'm going to grow a baby this summer, I'm still going to be tan and cool for that matter!  Of course Sunday it was cool and rainy, so I haven't gotten to use it yet, but I will.  The Husband even made me a skimmer to clean out the bugs and grass!  He's secretly jealous :)

The rest of Sunday I watched as the Husband and his little helper trimmed trees so our garden will get a little more light.
Hubs hard at work

His little helper - Scar Face.
Don't worry not a real scar, just dried spit.

Ooo!  What are we doing with the stick!?

Playing?! Fetch!? Whatever it is it's great!

Hi Mom!

I'm working really hard I need a drink from my GIANT water bowl...

 And I'm back!

Keep Away?!

I love this game!

Need another drink

Gotcha!

No fair!  You're taller!!

I still have the biggest water bowl, so HA!

5 Years in the Making

So the Husband and I celebrated our 5th year of marriage on Saturday!  I can't believe we've been married that long!!  What is really unbelievable is that come August, we will have been together for 11 big ones!!  Yep we were High School Sweet-Hearts.  Started dating on my 16th B-Day in fact.  The even cRaZiEr thing is that I was the one who made the first move.  If you know us at all, that is so NOT characteristic of me!  You see I'm the shy sweet good girl and the Husband is the loud obnoxious in-your-face guy.  (It's true I'm always telling him he is so loud :)  But that's what happened folks and apparently it was meant to be considering we've got a baby bean on the way!  We always talked about wanting to go some where fun on vacation for our 5th Anny, but little did we realize we would be up to our eyeballs in school debt!  So instead we went some where fun - just locally - on a daycation!
We got to wake up to this sweet face...

First we went to the Farmer's Market as that's one of my favorites.  We bought some home-made jam from one of my patients and an apple pie.  The Husband used his bartering skills and talked her down from $10 to $7 - that's MY man.  Then we tried a new place for breakfast and it was awesome!  It's called Mirth Cafe - fun Lawrence atmosphere and great food!  Then we went home a took a nap - things really wear me down these days!  Then we went to the KC SeaLife Aquarium - get ready for picture overload...

Looks like it's wearing lace

 This is my favorite one!

 This guy wouldn't hold still!

Eels are gross

This creature was kinda cute too, not sure what you call it :)

This one reminded us of Bailey :)  I think it's the eyes

After the aquarium we went to a T-Bonez Game which was so fun.  We were going to get the closer seats, but they didn't have anything left except the bleacher seats.  So we were a bit bummed... UNTIL we got to the seats!  They are completely in the shade and really spread out, so they were perfect!
All in all a great daycation for our 5th Anny!!
Hopefully on our 10th we will only be in school debt to our ankles or else NOT AT ALL!!  Then we can take a vacation outside of 30 miles from our house!  :)
