Tale of the Runaway Garden...

I used to have 4 broccoli plants - Down to 3 as of yesterday...

Still have 3 broccoli plants, but they are much smaller today...

Eggplant and Jalapeno Pepper plant are no longer full of leaves...

Yesterday I immediately I assumed this precocious thing was behind it,
but as I took a lap around the yard and found NO evidence I had second thoughts.  Maybe a bird?  There is a lot of bird poo around lately, seems reasonable.  But after today I'm pretty sure it was something else, maybe a rabbit?  Only prob is there are no tracks and I've never seen any rabbits in our yard!  The mystery continues...

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Momma's Day!  Hope all you momma's (and momma's to be) had a great day!  It was a little hot & windy here but overall not too shabby!

In honor of my Mom, here is one of my fav pics of us - despite the pencil thin eyebrows and braces!!
And yes, this is a picture of a picture...
Love you Mom!

The FishButt...

It happened again...  Miss B has the nasty FishButt again!

Today we had an emotionally draining day.  First we went to get her nails cut.  We've tried to do this ourselves at home, but it always ends with 1.5 paws cut nicely and the others jagged or bleeding.  So we gave up trying and have since been taking her to Pawsh Wash where they LOVE Miss B.  Despite the fact that they spoil her with treats, she still isn't the most co-operative when they go to cut her nails.

Scene:
Groomer comes to greet us and suggests we cut her nails in the front room.
I laugh out loud then realize she's serious...  I indulger her while she sits in-front of Miss B and try's to hold her paw.  Miss B - 'Yeah... this ain't happenin' lady!'
Groomer finally gives up and agrees we should go to the grooming room.
Miss B jumps up in the grooming booth - happily at this point due to the bag of treats present.
Treats disappear - Miss B figures out what is really happening...
Miss B hovering in the corner of the both where they do the grooming - sometimes even rearing back on her hind legs just to let us know she is NOT okay with this
Groomer chasing after Miss B's flailing limbs while telling her 'It's Okay!  I'm not going to hurt you - I promise!'
Miss B- Yeah right, that's what you said last time when you knicked me!
Me - Attempting (key word here) to block her in the cubicle so she doesn't run away while yelling, screaming, softly cooing 'It's okay Baby Girl, You're almost done...' or something along those lines.
15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes later and three head butt's later (I may have a fat lip later)... Miss B's nails look OK - not great, but they are cut so we're good.  This time her quick was only knicked once!  That's progress folks!  Thank goodness that is over!

Next Up:
Getting that awful FishButt taken care of.  If you aren't familiar with the FishButt read here.  Trust me you do NOT want me to explain this again.
We started noticing it a week or so ago and finally decided that it needed to be fixed before it got as bad as last time.  So then we had to decide WHO was going to take her.  I took her alone last time, so I told the Husband he needed to experience it - he always says poop is funny, so it just makes sense that he should take her.  (The Husband thinking poop is funny is another story for another day folks...)
He finally agreed to at least go with me to take her for the FishButt fix.  We got to the vet where they ushered us into 'Our Room' - we seem to go to the same one everytime.  As they closed the door behind us Miss B went from Threat Level Yellow to Threat Level RED in about .02 seconds.  She knew something was up!  Then the vet and his assistant came in.  The assistant immediately came over and made nice with her then scooped her up (mind you she is a squirmy 114.2 lbs!!) and put her on the table - this hadn't happened since she was a puppy!  So that was a bit of a shock for both all of us.  Then they gave her, the 1.5 year shots - pretty sure she didn't feel it, but I sure did!  Finally he fixed the FishButt - Miss B's eyes opened wide as she screamed with her eyes 'WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!  THIS IS SO NOT OKAY!!!  Let's go get my nails cut again!!!'
Then the stench came...  this time the office wasn't that bad as the vet cleaned it up quickly, but on the car ride home, the stench never left.  In fact I'm pretty sure I can still smell it.

Needless to say it has been an emotionally draining Friday afternoon!
Not cool mom, Not cool
I can't even look at you right now
You have about 5 seconds to Go Away!
I'm going to pretend to be asleep and you should be gone when I open them...

Oh Great, you're still here...

He's Baaack

The Husband got back last night from chaperoning the senior trip!  I know I was glad to see him, but I think Miss B might have missed him more!  She didn't leave his side all night and anytime he went outside or to the garage, she had a look of serious concern on her face!  Super cute!

Takin' Care of Business...

The Husband is of to Branson all weekend long... with about 40 High School Seniors!  He was appointed as one of the Senior Class Sponsors this year - this title comes along with a being a sponsor for the Senior Trip.  That's right a Senior Trip!  When I was in HS, there was no fancy senior trip!!!  All we got was a senior prank - which we weren't supposed to do and probably got in trouble for it & a senior skip day - which we also were NOT supposed to do and got punished for if we participated!  So while he is off playing at Silver Dollar City and the Tanger Outlet Malls - (SO NOT FAIR!) - Miss B and I have been busy in the yard!

First thing Saturday we went to the nursery to pick up the rest of the garden veggies - they had the cutest wagons to put all your plants in...
Tomatoes...

We had to get these in honor of Miss B since we call her this all the time -

Eggplant...

JalapeƱos

Green Peppers

Asparagus - looks like a pile of dirt currently, so I spared you the picture
Blackberry 'Bush' - if you can call it that :)

Once we got all that in, we walked on Mass Street for a while and heard all the typical comments...
You need a saddle for that thing!
Is that a horse?!
You could ride that thing!
Look it's Marmaduke!
And so on and so forth...  I did hear a new one however which was kinda funny -
A guy casually walked up to us and said, "Hmm, you should've gotten a bigger one." Then casually walked away.

Then I started in on the front.  We have two areas in the front that have been sitting bare since we ripped out the nasty bushes that were there previously.  I finally found some flowers and bush-ish things I liked.  So here is the finished project - disregard the guy in the middle laying down on the job!

Hopefully in a month or so they will all be closer to full size so they actually fill in the space!
At the last minute, I decided to mow the lawn thinking I could get it done before dark - which typically would have been a possibility.  Unfortunately last weekend when I mowed, I had to put gas in the mower and I grabbed the first gas tank I saw - yep grabbed the wrong one.  I filled the tank with the gas oil mixture meant for the weedeater - Oops!  I figured it out pretty quickly so we are hoping it is okay, but we are still working out the kinks - like when the mower just stops randomly.  Hence why it took me about 1.5 hours to mow last night instead of 45 minutes.  Got it done in the end, but my lines were pretty crooked when I looked this morning!
We were all tuckered out Saturday night

Hope you all had a productive weekend too!
