Better Laundry

First and foremost -
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!
Last weekend my parents and brother got to come up to visit.  The Husband was on Senior Trip in Branson, so it would have been just B and I had they not come up!  My wonderfully awesome dad brought me a new laundry room when they visited!  We already bought a rockin' washer and dryer from him when we moved in back in 2010 (can't believe it's been that long!)  So to add to it he BUILT - yes with his own two hands - this amazing cabinet for us so that now we have the most amazing laundry room!

Disregard the messy space on the right, I still need to get some hooks to hang up the step ladder and brooms and such!

Here is a better close up of the actual cabinets
Last year he remodeled the bathrooms at their house and of course he built the cabinets that went into those bathrooms too.  I jokingly said you can do my laundry room next right ;).  Then about a month ago he called and said that he was ready to do it!  I was shocked b/c I really didn't expect him to do that for us!!  So we got right to work drawing out the plans and measuring about 10million times considering he was basically building this thing blind!  A little less than 3 weeks later this is what he came up with and it is BEA-UT-I-FUL!!!!  These pictures DO NOT do it justice at all!  Thank you SO SO SO much Dad!  I love ya!

The boys hard at work

STOP TAKING PICTURES!!!

I think this is my favorite part!  He made slats so I can put all (4) of my serving dishes on display!  (Someday I'll have more so I can fill it up!)

While the boys were hard at work, my mom and had a super productive and awesome (we'll call it an early Mother's Day) day in KC!  First we went to the Farmer's Market in Overland Park which was AMAZING!  Then we walked around their little downtown area and ran across The Upper Crust.  The cutest little pie shop you've ever seen!  We weren't ready to eat right then and plus we figured the boys would want some too, so we got 4 mini pies to go.  We ate them that evening after dinner it was SO SO good!  Then we went to the Penny's furniture store and ordered my mom a new love seat and ottoman for her upstairs nook.  It is gorgeous the only problem is it probably won't be there for another 6-8 weeks :(  After that we went to La Bodega for lunch which was wonderful!  Then she took me to Destination Maternity to pick up some new threads (yes I looked that up on Urban Dictionary ;) for the coming months!  Destination Maternity is awesome!  It's actually 3 stores in one so they have all the price points and they had some decent sales going on when we were there.  Let's just say I'm pretty much stocked!  Thank you SO SO SO much Mom!  After that we were both pretty pooped and hungry!  So we made our way to a Starbucks with a detour to DSW on the way.  We both got just what we were looking for and were super happy campers!  We ended our day with Iced Chai Latte and a blueberry scone - so good!  Thanks for the best Saturday ever Mom!  Love ya and hope you are having a great actual Mother's Day!

PS: since we are now stacking our washer and dryer we have this great worktop for sale, it goes on top of the washer and dryer when placed side by side.  It fits on any of the front loading models that are 27" wide.  This one is a graphite color.  Highly recommend it if yours are side by side!  We listed it on craigslist for $100 - tell your friends!! ;)
