Projects yo...

Abby is not writing this.

Ok now that we have cleared that up i'll catch you up on what has been going on around here. Over the last oh 1.5 - 2 months I have been working on building a bedframe for our bed we got when we first married. Only took 6 years but I finally made it. With the help of my friend Mitch (shop teacher) I got this thing finally whipped up and it actually fits our bed and looks good. This is the second piece of furniture I have built now. The changing table was first and now this bed. It is nice having the woodshop to be able to work in and Mitch has been a big help in schoolin me on building. At this point I have a lot more confidence moving forward into the next project.

Here is the headboard. Baby Reid isn't too happy.

 Siderails....

Footboard....

Here is an up close shot of the headboard. It's 2 posts with alternating 1X4 and 1X6 slat boards that fit into a dado cut groove.

This guy was inspecting my basement work.

This week is my spring break and I started with a busy Saturday night continuing into last night. My dad (Bill) and I have been sheet rocking the ceiling in the basement and I am about 95% done. I have some drops to cover but all other pieces are good to go. We are hopefully going to be pulling the trigger on another 50 sheets in May to complete the walls. From there I am going to hire out the tape, mud, and texture. I've done it before and it sucks. Friday night I moved all 50 sheets of sheetrock from the garage to the basement by myself. It took me about 5 hours but it was nice on Friday so i'm glad. I don't recommend moving 50 sheets by yourself, it takes forever and your arms and body hurt the next day.

Bought this drill pack last semester and it's been huge. Having an impact on hand is a must. I'll never go back to not having one.

Shout out to Lawrence Musil who let me borrow his sheetrock gun. If I ever rock again after this I won't do it without one of these guns. On a 4X8 board I had the whole thing secure before my dad had 3 screws in himself. The tool on the left is a rotozip I picked up about 5 years ago for $Free.99. Once again won't do any rock with out this thing. You can make far better cuts with it and you can make a lot of your cuts once the sheet is already hanging. Thats it for now, I will remind Abby to post some pics of Reid.

3 Months... Wait No 4 Months

So I've decided the best way to deal with my Little Man growing up is DENIAL!  Whenever someone asks how old he is I tell them he is 3 months old even though in the back of my head the little voice is screaming No he will be 4 months on Friday!!   My newborn is now 4 months old - SAY WHAT?!?!  It is amazing how time flies!  Also only blogging once month helps with the whole denial thing!  Someday I'll get better I promise - actually no I won't promise because it's not looking too good. ;)

I did manage to take his 3 month pictures on time, just didn't get them posted on time...
See the monkey, eat the monkey

Very stoic this month

Practicing Sitting!

Discovering his feet, not too sure about them!

About the extent of their relationship :(

But seriously... What ARE those things!?!?

 OOoooooo get the monkey!!!

Why do you keep putting me here?!

In other news, I made Miss B a new bed

and despite how comfortable and big it is she still would rather sleep on our couches - NOT COOL

We endured Snowmagedon 1 & 2 a few weeks ago!

I hate the snow

Still hate it

Okay I like it a little

Husband has some video fun and did a time lapse of him shoveling!

3 Months of L-O-V-E

Last week brought so many exciting things to our family!  Wednesday night the Husband came home after being named Teacher of the Year! :)  So proud of him and everything he has done this year!!  We decided to celebrate this and V-Day a little early so we headed out for some sushi Wednesday night.  I hadn't had sushi in a whole year - talk about with drawls!!!  It was SO good we went to our favorite place downtown called Wa :).  Little man went with us and slept right through dinner.

Thursday at lunch I was walking out to my car and a car was coming down the street that looked just like Nathan's car which I thought was funny.  I got in my car to go to lunch and to my surprise it WAS the Husband!  He surprised me during his plan period with some roses!

Friday Little Man turned 3 Months Old!!  Being Reid's momma is so fun!  He has brought so much love and excitement to our lives, couldn't imagine it without him!!  Here are some stats on the little man...
Length - 24 inches (3 weeks ago)
Weight - 14 pounds (3 weeks ago)  We go to doctor next week so we'll see how much he gained.
Rolling Over - front to back - yes; back to front - almost, usually gets stuck on his side
Sleeping - he was sleeping 8-9 hours at night, but recently has decided to eat at least once in the middle of the night.  Not sure what this is about but hopefully we get back to the 8-9 hours soon.
Eating - ALL THE TIME!
Smiles - All the time :)
Bumpo Chair - just started using it this week and he tolerates.  Truthfully he prefers to stand on your lap or jump up and down on your lap!
Talking - more like shouting!  He has really started 'expressing' himself in the last few weeks, its quite funny to watch.  He really likes it when you talk back to him.

 My Valentine :)

Miss B stil hasn't given him a kiss, but she does come up and smell him more often - baby steps!  Saturday morning we were playing with Reid and she did join in the fun, take a look!

Baby Daddy Weekend

Abby is at a seminar all day Friday, Sat, and Sunday so Reid and I have had an all boys weekend. If you haven't figured it out 'husband' is writing this. I took Friday off from school to stay home with him but our weekend started Thursday night. We took him over to the Eudora basketball game for a little bit and his eyes were huge and was really getting a kick out of the environment.

Friday we spent all day inside except for our one super exciting outing to the bank. (crowd goes ooooo) In which we didn't even get out of the car. I watched a bunch of movies and drove myself nuts as I am a busy body.

Saturday I worked an ACT over at school and Reid got to spend the morning with Grandma Robinson! After I got done we hung out at my parents house for a little and then came home to another exciting round of staying inside and watching movies and feeding! (again the crowd goes oooo)

Today has been just about the same. I attempted to get some work done at school with Reid along but he wasn't havin that so we bolted early to get home for a bottle (at this point I could use a different type of bottle).

All n All the weekend has been pretty good with him. I am getting more used to him and the smiles he gives makes it all worth it. But there had to be something learned from this extended time at home right? You betcha. In my mini adventures as a new parent and well, new to babies in general I have started to compile I list of parenting facts that everyone seems to already know but I am just now finding out. Here are a few:

Parenting Fact #11: When you take off work don't kid yourself into thinking you will get work done at home. Unless baby is sleeping.

Parenting Fact #20: When a baby barfs b-milk on your arm.... it's rather sticky.

Parenting Fact #15: When your baby hasn't pooped in 4 days expect the worse. (anyone remember the line from planet of the apes "blessed be the bomb and the holy fallout"?). Also it might get all over said baby and yourself.

Parenting Fact #16: Your baby goes back to being cute after being washed of Fact#15.

Parenting Fact #30: Your ginormous dog will want attention and will want to be cuddled just like your baby. If you don't it will poop on the floor. (poop was found on my delightful Saturday)

There you have it folks, a few things I have learned so far. I'll keep you posted on more parenting facts as they slap me in the face like the smell of a poopy diaper at 2:30 in the morning. Have a great week!

It's me again...

So I have to confess, the last two posts have been forged.  The Husband apparently thinks I've been slacking on my blogging duties as of late.  There may out may not be a TINY bit of truth to that...  The Husband really poured on the velveeta while he wrote these blogs, apparently I'm cheesy when I write?!?!

Anywho... We have been having so much fun with Baby Reid.  I still have moments when I have to pinch myself because I can't believe we are parents!  Can you believe he is already 2 months old?!  It's definitely hard for me to believe!  He is a really good baby though, full of smiles!  Even when the Husband brings Little Man to me in the middle of the night I get a big toothless grin - which totally melts my heart!  In the last week I feel like he has 'grown up' so much - Wednesday night he slept through the night for the first time and Tuesday night he rolled over from front to back.  He had been trying this for a while now but kept getting stuck on his side, so it was quite the surprise when he got himself all the way over.  Also his new favorite thing is to stand and bounce on your lap.  I seriously need to find one of those doorway jumpers!

Last week was my last full week with Little Man at work.  He starts daycare part time TOMORROW!!  I was feeling okay about this until last night.  The Husband and I agreed that once he slept through the night we would move him to his own room.  Well that just ain't happenin'!  He had some congestion this week, so I decided we should keep him in our room until that was over so that I could get to him quickly if needed.  So last night he was doing a lot better and the Husband was ready to move him out.  I however, just started bawling when he suggested we move him... Not really sure why but I did, then I started thinking about this coming week and it just made it worse!  So apparently I'm not doing as well as I thought with this whole 'letting go' thing!  Deep down I know he is going to do fine. Sharon is a very nice lady and I know Reid is going to come to love her.  I think the hardest part is that she doesn't know all his little quirks like I do and I hate hearing him cry!  I just have to keep telling myself it will all be okay, he has to grow up sometime :(  Here are some fun pictures from the last few weeks!

Chilling' in my ride

 Happy New Year !

One month photo shoot

I'm really hungry and wish she would put down that camera!
 And we're done!

Finally I'll leave you with one of our first family portraits...
The second day we were home from the hospital we had had a rough night so Reid ended up in bed with us.  When I woke to go to the bathroom this is what I saw so I quietly but quickly set up the tripod and climbed back into bed.
